We stop myopia in its tracks.
Your child’s future vision depends on it.

The earlier we catch and treat myopia, the better the result. We’ve helped countless kids see clearly and stay that way.
At Bonds Eye Care, we don’t just correct vision, we actively work to slow and, in many cases, stop myopia from worsening. This is our specialty, and it shows.

A word from your doctor:

I earned the IACMM — the International Academy Certification in Myopia Management — because I believe parents deserve a doctor who has formally demonstrated their expertise, not just someone who offers myopia treatments as an afterthought. This certification requires proving in-depth clinical knowledge of myopia science and management. It’s a commitment I made because your child’s vision is worth it.

Understanding Myopia

What is myopia, and why does it matter so much in children?

Myopia (nearsightedness) occurs when the eye grows too long, causing light to focus in front of the retina. In children, this isn’t just an inconvenience, unchecked progression raises the long-term risk of retinal detachment, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. Early, active management is the standard of care.

Genetics

If one parent is myopic, a child has 3× the risk. Both parents? That climbs to 6×. Family history is a very strong predictor of myopia in kids.

Outdoor Time

Natural light exposure is one of the most protective factors against myopia onset. We recommend at least 90 minutes outdoors daily.

Near Work & Screens

Extended close-up tasks, reading, tablets, phones, are strongly associated with faster progression, especially in school-age children.

Warning signs

Squinting at the board, sitting too close to the TV, frequent headaches, or complaints about blurry distance vision are alLred flags

Treatment options we offer

Four proven ways to slow — or stop — myopia progression

No single treatment fits every child. After a comprehensive myopia evaluation, we’ll recommend the right protocol based on your child’s age, prescription, lifestyle, and progression rate. Every option below has strong clinical evidence behind it.

Orthokeratology (Ortho-K)

Custom overnight lenses that gently reshape the cornea while your child sleeps. They wake up seeing clearly, no daytime lenses needed, and myopia progression slows significantly.

Soft Multifocal Contacts

Daily soft lenses with a center-distance design reduce the peripheral defocus that drives eye elongation, a great option for contact-lens-ready kids who don’t want to try Ortho-K.

Atropine Eye Drops

Low-dose atropine (0.01–0.05%) has strong clinical evidence for slowing axial eye growth. Simple nightly drops, often combined with other treatments.

Stellest & Myopia Control Lenses

Stellest lenses use H.A.L.T. technology to create a volume of signal that slows eye elongation. Worn like regular glasses, with none of the contact lens learning curve.
